Lucas
wanted to train in Martial Arts at the age of
two.
Since his parents were unable to find a training
facility for a child so young, he was enrolled
him in gymnastics.
For two more years he persistently kept asking
so finally at
the age of four a studio was found.. Lucas "The
Sandman" Ortiz has been training at Ephrata
Martial Arts
under the instruction of Sifu Justin Press since
2002. Lucas has shown exceptional potential
and
has a focus and drive rarely seen in a child
at such at young
age. Since he is homeschooled, Lucas has the
opportunity for extra time in the gym.
With no coaxing from anyone, he faithfully spends
2-4 hours a day in training time.
Lucas began competing at the age of five. He
has already won thirty-three trophies including
twenty-one first
places, three of them being world title belts.
His fighting record
is 21-5-0. Lucas is planning on competing in
approximately 8 fighting
and grappling tournaments this year. His goal
is to eventually compete professionally in MMA.
